Frequently Asked Questions

CAN I DROP OFF MY QUILT TOP AND BACKING?

If you live in the St. Louis area, we can arrange to meet at a mutually agreed location to discuss your quilt project. Please Contact Us to arrange an appointment.

DO YOU ACCEPT MAIL-IN ORDERS?

Yes.  Most quilt tops and backing fit into the USPS medium flat rate priority mail boxes. King size quilts will require the large flat rate box. Place your quilt top and backing into a large zip seal bag to protect them and include a completed Order Form.

NOTE:  We have batting available for purchase. If you provide your own batting, you might not be able to use the flat rate boxes.

WHAT SIZE SHOULD MY BACKING BE?

Please review our Quilt Preparation information for detailed instructions. At a minimum, your backing should measure 8” wider and longer than your quilt top. For example, if your top measures 72” wide and 90” long, your backing should measure between 80” wide and 98” long.

DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM QUILTING?

Custom quilting is available upon special request. Please Contact Us to discuss your project.

SHOULD I SEND A CHECK WITH MY QUILT?

Except for King Size and California King size quilts (see note below) it is not necessary to include a check or credit card information when you ship your quilt. When your quilt is received, we will measure it and an estimated invoice will be provided, however this invoice is not due until your quilt is ready to ship. We will notify you when your quilt is ready to ship and once your payment is received, your quilt will ship.

NOTE: King and California King quilts require a prepaid $100 set-up fee. This fee will be applied to your final invoice.

DO YOU TAKE INTERNATIONAL ORDERS?

Sorry, we do not take international orders. Due to the additional charges for international customers, we believe you are better served to contact a long arm quilter in your country or region.

DO YOU HAVE BATTING AVAILABLE?

We have a selection of Hobbs Batting including Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20, wool and cotton. We also have Hobbs Tuscany Cotton, Tuscany 80/20 cotton/wool, Tuscany 100% Wool and Tuscany Silk (90% Silk, 10% poly). We also have Quilter’s Dream batting available in poly, cotton, 80/20 cotton/poly, wool, bamboo blend and silk blend. We continue to test other battings.

CAN I PROVIDE MY OWN BATTING?

Yes.  However, keep in mind if you are shipping your quilt top, backing and batting to us, the cost to ship will be greater and it may be more cost effective to purchase our batting.

CAN I SELECT MY QUILTING DESIGN?

Yes.  You can view our library here. If you do not see a design you like or need help picking a design, we can make suggestions or locate a design based on your description. Your options with be discussion during your consultation call or if you live in the St. Louis, Missouri area, you can Contact Us to arrange an in person consultation.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO RECEIVE MY COMPLETED QUILT?

Quilts with Edge to Edge designs ship within two to three weeks of arrival. Smaller quilts may ship faster. We strive for a 10 business day turn-around, however, during busy times, this may not be possible. If your quilt is delayed for any reason, you will be notified with a new anticipated ship date.

Semi-custom quilts generally ship within three to four weeks. If your quilt is delayed, you will be notified of the new anticipated ship date.

WHAT IS THE SHIPPING COST FOR MY COMPLETED QUILT?

As a courtesy to my customers, I pay up to the first $15 for return postage. In most cases I can use the USPS priority flat rate mail boxes. If your finished quilt does not fit the USPS priority large mail box, or the necessary packaging and weight exceeds $15 to your location, you only pay the difference. For example, you live in Minnesota which is Zone 4 from Missouri and your package weighs 10 pounds, postage is under $15 so there is no additional postage charge. Say you live in Idaho, a 10 pound package to your zone is about $30, so you would pay $15.
